Menopause

Menopause

Menopause is the phase of life when a woman’s menstrual periods stop. The years leading up to the point where menstruation ends is called perimenopause.  Menstruation may start and stop for a period of time, so only after a full year without periods is a woman said to be in full menopause.

For most women, menopause usually takes place around the age of 50, but no two women are the same.  Some women experience menopause in their early 40’s while others experience it in their late 50’s.

During the years leading to menopause, women may notice certain changes in their bodies and moods.

While there can be some uncomfortable side effects that accompany menopause, our Arrowhead Women’s Center team can provide you with the information that you need to manage menopause.  From hot flashes to mood swings to problems sleeping, we can offer the guidance and care that you may need to feel at ease.

In addition, we offer hormone replacement at our Glendale, Arizona clinic.  Hormone replacement therapy replaces the hormones that a woman’s ovaries stop producing during menopause.  This therapy can help to reduce the symptoms of hot flashes and vaginal dryness.  Estrogen or estrogen with progestin is administered with a pill or skin patch.
