Pregnancy Testing

Pregnancy Testing at Arrowhead Women’s Center

At Arrowhead Women’s Center, we believe in the importance of prenatal care to protect both mother and child throughout the terms of pregnancy.  During each trimester, different tests are performed to rule out possible causes of pregnancy complications.  These tests give our Arrowhead Women’s Center team of physicians useful information about the status of both the health of the mother and the baby.  Some of these tests and screenings during pregnancy include:

First Trimester

  • Complete Blood Count
  • Antibody Screening
  • Blood Type Analysis
  • Rubella Screening
  • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Screening
  • PPD
  • Pap Smear
  • Urinalysis
  • HIV Screening
  • Genetic Screenings for Down Syndrome

Second Trimester

  • MSAFP Screening to evaluate risk of neural tube defects and Down Syndrome risk.
  • Ultrasound to assess the placenta, cervix, fluid levels, and baby.
  • Amniocentesis

Third Trimester

  • Hematocrit to evaluate blood iron levels of mother.
  • Glucose Loading Testing (GLT) to assess risk of gestational diabetes.

These tests allow our Arrowhead Women’s Health team to gain more insight into the health and wellness of each stage of pregnancy.  We combine our technology with personalized patient care to provide services and testing that make a difference in health for both baby and mother.
