Prenatal Visits at Arrowhead Women’s Center
As you read your home pregnancy test, you smile with excitement. The test has come back as positive. Millions of thoughts start flowing through your head—will it be a boy or girl? Should I start saving for college now? What can I expect throughout this pregnancy?
Before you begin to shift through any of the answers to these questions, you should make an appointment with Arrowhead Women’s Center for a prenatal visit. As soon as you suspect that you may be pregnant, having a prenatal visit can make a dramatic difference in the health of your child and your overall health. Through this blog, we will explain what you can expect during a visit with one of our Arrowhead Women Center providers. Keep reading to learn more about prenatal care throughout pregnancy!
During your initial visit with Arrowhead Women’s Center, an abundance of information is collected to better understand your personal medical health history. We will gather information concerning:
- Your menstrual cycles
- Regularity of menstruation
- Due date
- Symptoms you have encountered since a previous pregnancy occurred
- Family history
- Review personal habits that can influence pregnancy
- Gynecological issues you have encountered
In addition, a variety of tests and screenings will be conducted to provide our team with the most well-rounded information about your overall health. After the first visit, subsequent visits will occur every 4 weeks. These visits are typically used to monitor a woman’s symptoms during pregnancy, perform any necessary tests or screenings, and to monitor appropriate weight gain during pregnancy.
During these visits, we will also gather information about additional decisions that need to be made including labor techniques, epidurals, and information about what to expect after labor. These appointments also give you the one-on-one time to ask any questions or voice concerns about your own pregnancy. Our Arrowhead Women’s Center team is eager to guide you and help you throughout every stage of pregnancy and beyond.
